1. Who we are
Ummatia (entity name UMMATIA) is the data fiduciary for personal data processed on this website and app. How to raise a privacy or takedown request is below.
2. Data we collect
- Phone number (for login OTP / account)
- Required account name and username; optional email, phone and profile photo
- Home locality you save (country, state, district, etc.)
- Listings you create (mosque, agency, store, caterer, events, items)
- Feedback, reports, and tour enquiries you submit
- Coarse visit logs (approximate location from network headers) for community traffic insights
- Essential cookies / local storage: session (`mi_session`), locality, theme, install counters, and similar settings needed to run the app.
- On pages where ads are shown, Google AdSense may set its own cookies or use similar technologies (see section 4).
3. How we use data
To authenticate you, show relevant local content, operate listings, improve safety (moderation and abuse reports), send transactional messages you request (such as a login OTP), and measure basic usage (visits / app installs). We do not sell your personal data.
4. Advertising (Google AdSense)
To help pay for hosting and maintenance, some parts of Ummatia show advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and device identifiers to serve ads, limit how often you see an ad, and measure ad performance. Ad content and targeting are chosen by Google under the Google Advertising Policies; we do not hand Google your phone number or OTP for that purpose.
Ad-free mosque experience. We do not load AdSense on the Mosques tab (/find), individual mosque pages, prayer display boards, imsakiye sheets, or Hall TV / kiosk views. Those areas are kept free of our ad placements so prayer information stays unobstructed.
You can manage personalized advertising from Google at Google Ad Settings and read how Google uses data at Google Privacy Policy. EU/UK visitors may also use industry opt-out tools linked from Google's ads policy page.
5. Sharing
We may share data with infrastructure providers (hosting, SMS, email, file storage) under contract, or when required by law / to prevent serious misuse. Public listing fields you publish are visible to other users.
6. Retention & security
We keep account and listing data while your account is active, and prune short-lived visit logs. Mosque listings are permanent community records; changing managers does not erase the mosque. We use industry-standard protections (HTTPS, hashed passwords/OTPs, HTTP-only sessions). No system is perfectly secure.
7. Your rights (United States · Ohio)
You may request access, correction, or erasure of your personal data, or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Use My account → request deletion, or use Report this listing. We may need to verify your identity. Mosque pages and public listings that serve the community may be retained in anonymised or manager-transferred form where the law allows.
For users in the United States: you must comply with federal and state law, including applicable consumer-protection, anti-fraud, and charitable-solicitation rules in your state.
8. Children
You must be 18 years or older to create an account. Ummatia is not directed at children. Do not post a child’s personal data (name, photo, school, or phone) on listings or events.
9. Complaints
For privacy, takedown, or abuse complaints under Indian IT Rules and the DPDP Act, use the in-app tools or write to the Ummatia inbox. No personal officer name, Gmail, phone, or home address is published on this site.
